Webcam Test

Check that your camera works and looks good before a call: live preview, the resolution and frame rate it really delivers, and which sizes it supports up to 4K. See whether the picture is too dark or too bright, adjust focus and exposure where the camera allows, and save a photo or short clip.

Webcam test FAQ

How do I test my webcam online?

Press Start and allow the camera. If you see yourself in the preview, the camera works. The readings show its resolution and the frame rate it really delivers; run the resolution test to see which sizes it supports.

Why is my webcam not working?

Most often another app is using it, the browser or system has blocked it, or a privacy shutter or camera key has turned it off. Close video-call apps, allow the camera from the address bar, check your system privacy settings, and reconnect an external camera.

Why does my camera show a lower resolution than advertised?

Browsers start most cameras at a moderate size. Run the resolution test to see the highest size it delivers. Some cameras reach their top resolution only at a lower frame rate, and some USB ports or hubs limit the size.

Why is my frame rate low?

In low light, cameras lengthen each frame’s exposure, which lowers the frame rate. Add light in front of you. A busy computer, a USB hub or a very high resolution can also reduce it.

What does mirror do?

It flips the preview like a mirror, which feels natural. Other people in a call usually see you unmirrored. Saved photos follow the mirror setting.

Why can’t I change focus or brightness?

Only some cameras and browsers let web pages change camera settings. When they do, sliders appear under Camera controls; otherwise use the camera’s own software or your system settings.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The preview, readings and recordings all stay in your browser. A photo or clip is saved only when you download it.
