Multiply the hourly rate by your hours per week and by the weeks you are paid in a year: $20 × 40 × 52 = $41,600. The calculator does this for any period and shows the daily, weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly and monthly amounts too.
It uses the 2026 IRS tax brackets and standard deduction for your filing status, the child tax credit and earned income credit, Social Security (6.2% up to $184,500) and Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% on high earnings), and your state's 2026 income tax brackets, deductions and exemptions. Traditional 401(k) contributions and pre-tax benefits lower the tax as they do on a real paycheck.
All 50 states and the District of Columbia. States without a wage income tax (such as Texas, Florida and Washington) show none. California SDI, Massachusetts paid leave and Washington long-term care contributions are included. For a city or county income tax, enter its rate in the local tax field.
Yes. Choose UK to use the 2026/27 personal allowance and tax bands for England, Wales and Northern Ireland or Scotland, Class 1 National Insurance, workplace pension (salary sacrifice or net pay arrangement) and student loan plans 1, 2, 4, 5 and postgraduate.
For 2025 to 2028 the extra half of time-and-a-half overtime pay can be deducted from federal taxable income, up to $12,500 ($25,000 for married couples filing jointly) and reduced at higher incomes. When you add overtime, the calculator applies it automatically.
The effective rate is all your tax divided by your gross pay. The marginal rate is how much of your next $100 (or £100) goes to tax, which is what a raise or extra hours are taxed at.
It follows the official 2026 tables and is checked against an independent tax model. Your real paycheck can differ a little because of how your employer withholds each period, itemized deductions, other income and local rules, so treat it as a close estimate for planning.
