How to use the rain window

Watch the rain

Drops start running down the glass right away. Tap the sound button for soft rain on the window.

Set the mood

Open the settings to pick a view, make it drizzle or pour, add thunder or fog up the glass.

Draw, rest or save

Draw in the fog with your finger, set a sleep timer, go full screen or save a picture or video.

Tips for a perfect rainy mood

Study and focus

Steady rain at a low volume masks chatter and keyboard noise. Pair it with a timer for focused work sessions.

Fall asleep to rain

Choose a gentle drizzle, turn thunder off and set the sleep timer. The rain fades out quietly at the end.

Write on the window

Turn up the fog and draw hearts, names or doodles in the condensation. Drops running down wash it clear again.

Make it stormy

Push the rain to a downpour and turn on thunder for flashes of lightning and rolling rumbles.

A window on your TV

Open the page on a TV or a second monitor, choose the city view and go full screen for a rainy evening window.

Save a rainy clip

Make a 16:9 video with sound for a stream background, or a 9:16 clip for your story.

Rain on a window FAQ

What is the rain window?

A relaxing animated scene of raindrops on a pane of glass with an evening view behind it. Drops gather, run down and merge, each one showing a sharp, upside-down view of the lights behind, just like real rain on a window.

Is it free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no watermark on your pictures or videos, and it runs right in your browser with nothing to install.

Does it have rain sounds?

Yes. Tap the sound button to hear soft rain on the glass with an occasional drip. Turn on thunder for rumbles that follow the lightning flashes.

Can I write on the foggy window?

Yes. Turn up Fog in the settings, then drag your finger or mouse over the glass to draw. The window slowly fogs up again, and running drops wash lines through it.

Can I fall asleep to the rain?

Yes. Set a sleep timer of 15, 30, 60 or 120 minutes; the sound and the picture fade out gently during the last minute.

Will my screen stay on?

While the rain is visible, the page asks your device to keep the screen awake, so it works as an ambient window on a TV, a monitor or a phone.

Which views can I choose?

An evening city with glowing windows and car lights, a neon street, a misty forest with a cabin light, and a lake at dusk with a village on the far shore.

Can I download a rain video?

Yes. In the settings, choose a length, a shape (TV 16:9, phone 9:16 or square) and quality, and make an MP4 with the rain and thunder sounds.
