Currency Converter FAQ

Where do the exchange rates come from?

From the European Central Bank's euro reference rates, the daily rates many businesses, accountants and travellers use as a neutral benchmark. The date of the rates is shown under every result.

How often are the rates updated?

The European Central Bank sets new reference rates once each working day, around 16:00 Central European Time. The converter checks for them several times a day, so you always see the latest working day's rates.

Which currencies can I convert?

30 currencies: the euro, US dollar, British pound, Japanese yen, Chinese yuan, Indian rupee, Canadian and Australian dollars, Swiss franc, South Korean won, Brazilian real, Mexican peso, Turkish lira, Singapore and Hong Kong dollars, the Nordic and Central European currencies, South African rand and more. Any pair works, not only pairs with the euro.

Can I see how an exchange rate changed?

Yes. The chart shows the rate for the last 30 days, 90 days or year, with the low, the high and the change over the period. Move along the line, or use the arrow keys, to read the rate on any day.

Can I convert into several currencies at once?

Yes. The table below the converter shows your amount in as many currencies as you like. Add or remove currencies, copy any amount, or tap a currency to make it the target.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The last rates you loaded are kept in your browser, so the converter keeps working without a connection and tells you the date of the rates it is using.

Why can my bank's rate be different?

Reference rates are a midpoint for information. Banks, card providers and exchange offices add their own margin and fees, so use these rates as a guide, not as a trading quote.

Is it free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limits. Amounts are converted in your browser and are not sent anywhere.
