How to use the online stopwatch

Start

Click Start or press Space. The time counts in hundredths of a second.

Record laps

Press Lap or L at each split. Every lap shows its own time and the total so far.

Stop and export

Stop with Space, then copy the laps or download them as a CSV file for a spreadsheet.

A stopwatch you can rely on

Accurate timing

The time is worked out from the moment you pressed Start, not added up tick by tick, so it never drifts, even over hours.

Keeps going in the background

Switch tabs, lock the screen or let the computer sleep: when you come back the stopwatch shows the right time.

Survives a reload

A running stopwatch and its laps are saved in your browser. Close the tab by mistake and it is still running when you return.

Laps and splits

Each lap shows its lap time and the total. The fastest lap is marked green, the slowest orange, with the average underneath.

Big full-screen display

Show the time across the whole screen for a class, a workout or a stage.

Spreadsheet ready

Download the laps as CSV with times in both minutes:seconds and milliseconds, or copy them as a table.

Tips

Use the keyboard

Space starts and stops, L records a lap, R resets and F switches to full screen.

Time intervals

Press Lap at the end of each run, round or rep to compare them side by side.

Track a long task

Leave it running: it keeps counting for hours, through sleep and reloads.

Need to count down?

Stopwatch FAQ

Is this stopwatch free?

Yes. No account, no limits and nothing to install.

How accurate is it?

The display updates with every screen refresh and shows hundredths of a second. The time is measured from the moment you pressed Start using your device's high-resolution clock, so it does not drift.

Does it keep running if I switch tabs or close the page?

Yes. The start time is saved in your browser, so the stopwatch shows the right time when you come back, even after closing and reopening the page or after your computer sleeps.

How do I record a lap or split?

Press Lap or the L key while the stopwatch runs. The table shows each lap's own time and the total time at that moment.

Can I export my lap times?

Yes. Download them as a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers, or copy them to paste anywhere.

What keyboard shortcuts are there?

Space to start and stop, L for a lap, R to reset and F for full screen.
